I dropped my oil pan this weekend to swap one with a drain bung (+T!)

everything looked good, but i did find a small piece of seal in the oil pump pickup. See pic, oil pickup seal for scale.

any ideas what this is?

I have recently replaced all the front engine seals as well as the rear main seal, and i thought i got them out cleanly.

hard to do without banana for scale, but the radius of the orange one should match the seal it came from, and the other looks like the oil pump pipe seal, which you should replace when accessible. These engines are old now, perhaps previous owner?

the oil pickup seal was not loose in the sump, i replaced it while i had things open.

Rear main was done a couple months ago.

am i right that there are only 4 rotary seals in the engine that would look like this, crank, idler, timing cam, rear main? the rear timing seal is a solid plug isnt it?

rear cam seal is a plug. that looks like rear main to me. that's a big chunk though. perhaps someone tore up the old seal trying to replace it? if it was your current seal, the underside of your car would be coated with oil/grime.
