Hello again.
Trying to mount my crankshaft gear (a Cloyes aluminum one, if that matters), and trying to use a hammer like in instructional videos hasn't really worked out for me. There's just not enough space between the radiator support and the crank gear to hit it in a meaningful way.
So I ordered a tool from CVI.
The cup goes on the crank's snout just fine, but the bolt doesn't engage any of the threads on the inside. I figured "oh great, I ordered the wrong tool", but then I compared the threads to that on the bolt that held the pulley on (that came off the car), and they're the same. Weird. I go to try and install that bolt, and it won't thread back in at all.
1) I'm starting to suspect that the locating whole for the key on the crank gear is the wrong size anyway (yeah, I've bashed this gear pretty bad).
2) Something weird is happening with the threads.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
