Rare Volvo parts that you have!

That patch is cool. I've never seen it before so I checked my old Competition Service catalog and on a page titled 'Various Accessories' with no picture is the following description:

Part No. 552985
Volvo emblem (of cloth with laurel embellishment and underneath the word "RALLY", all in white colour on blue bottom, diameter - 75 mm)

Suggested list price in November '73 is $1.83.

I see your stickers and raise you a T shirt.

That’s really cool to learn about the patch. I picked that up at a yard sale in Vermont about 15 years ago. I also have a Volvos from hell shirt, it has the same logo on the front as the stickers but with red text, and it has a swedish engineering logo on the back. There was an original Volvos from hell 142 race car at the central new York vcoa event last year, I heard the owner just recently sold it.
I have another interesting part for you, maybe you can give me some more info on it:

I bought it off of tradera and the seller claims it was from a 240 police car. I know it says “city lights” but is that just the same thing as fog lights? Is it really a special switch or just a standard one with swedish text that I’ve never seen?

The part number for the switch is 248346. It came on Swedish 240 police cars. From what I can tell it allows the daytime running lights to be turned off.

Just to introduce my ride.

1981 244 GL Automatic
Flat hood and modified egg crate grill with custom metal big logo, yeah!
I have the original egg crate too.
Black leather seats and the rare mechanical ZF rack.

How about this emblem?
There was only 3000 cars fitted with these badges in 1977 for the 50-th anniversary of Volvo cars.

I bet you are! :) These 3000 jubilee cars in 77 had 5 more emblems: on the grill, on the front fenders, on the steering wheel and on the glove box.
But, this one from the trunk panel is the biggest one

The car from these photos /listed for sale/ is missing one - the silver plated badge on the glove box.

Speaking of rarity here, one of my favorites is This:
1955 VOLVO TP21 Sugga - the super strong military 4x4 off road radio car,
but taken apart and heavy tuned by qualified german mechanics!
With 7 liter v8 335 hp turbo diesel engine, automatic hearbox, all disk brakes, AC, led lights, giant wheels and so on...

See it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZd-Vq0cVcM

This thing was listed for sale on a german website about 10 years ago for 95 000 euros and I can't forgive myself that I did not have the money!
Some years later was listed for sale again for 195 000 euros AND guess - SOMEONE BOTH IT!
NOW it can only be seen in the "Technik Museum Sinsheim" in Germany:

How unhappy I am... :grrr:

Meet the King and Qeen of rarity!

None of us can ever have one of these. Volvo didn't sign the contract back then, so these two are one off, but fully functional prototypes stay in Zagato Italy.

Volvo GTZ 3OOO - Based on 164
