Rear seal depth question

About to button up B230FT build and want to verify proper rear seal depth in the retainer.
My seal now sits about 1/4 inch in from outer edge of retainer. I read in a thread in TB that someone experienced issues by having the seal in too far. Hanes refers to special tool, but
not about to search that down for a one on application. Thanx

as long as the SEAl is *square in the bore* and the "lip" is running on a
SMOOTHE SECTION of the rear of the crank (not the *worn spot* where
the previous seal lip ran!) you'll be fine

I use a section of appropriate size "PVC pipe and cap" as a seal driver for the
rear main (also have one for the front crank seal)...

Or use one of these to set it.
