AW71 Breather Tube?

Well, mine is missing...well there's one half on the floor, and I can only assume the other half has fallen inside...

What's the story on a AW71 breather from Volvo? Is it really just that 0.5" long plastic nipple that sticks out? Were there no hoses, check valves that connected to it?

Figure I'll replace the nipple, because without opening the transmission, there's not much else I can do. Anyone have a part number, as I can't find one?

Thats the whole thing, just the nipple? Okie dokie.

Well I hope the remains of the old doesn't eat the trans. Will put an inline filter in, for the first few hundred miles, then flush, just to be "safe"?

Thanks HiperF....once again you're a hero

I think I have one here somewhere. The piece inside the trans is trapped so it can't go anywhere but you have to disassemble the trans to replace it so it's not worth it unless the trans is coming apart anyway. There is no hose that connects to it so it's not really necessary.

If you have a spare that would be a life safer. My alternative was to find the Toyota part for a 82 Cressida...cool little thing with a little dust hat and a 90-degree bend to help keep the stuff out....that's also NLA.

At this point, yeah, if you've got the thing I need....you're 'da man!

I don't remember why I took a picture of that.
