My 4th of July project is an A/C rebuild and some other projects. I don't really need "parts" (I got most of those from FCP Groton) but I need supplies like good freon, Red Line stuff, etc.
What's the best auto parts shop in Portland, Oregon?
I'm in the middle of rebuilding the a/c system in my 940, but it's summer and hot (kinda, this is Portland...) and I still want my e-fan to cool down the engine bay.
How do I re-wire the e-fan so it's not connected to the a/c system anymore?
I'm out at the Bonneville Salt Flats (here for a work-related trip) and I'm doing my own speed tests, but can't get the 940 above 115.
I put in a VX3 cam and turned the boost up to 12 psi. The car is humming along and healthy.
When the salt was wet and had more drag to it, the cam kept pulling...
If you lose some low-end power with the VX cam, and that loss can be compensated for by a few degrees of advance...
Does that mean that the VX3 cam (which is the VX cam advanced 3 degrees) has good power at low end and continues to pull at the top end?
So with the VX3, an adjustable cam wheel...
Is the A pillar pod really as expensive as the boost gauge itself?
That just don't seem right...
Any secrets about getting a cheap(er) pod?
(This is for a '93 940 with a good interior, so duct-taping it to the dash is not an option...)
When flushing the tranny, my drain hose worked loose and it sprayed some ATF around the engine bay.
I notice my new yellow plug wires are permanaently stained and the new radiator hose looks like it didn't like the ATF shower. I sprayed it off and kind of cleaned it up, but not real seriously...
This isn't exactly a "performance" topic, but I just tinted my windows with a pre-cut kit from Snap Tint, and they included a 10% discount for future purchases by my friends.
So if you're thinking of tinting your windows for suummer, let me know and I'll give you the discount code.
OK. I flushed the tranny on my 940 AT, and added some Trans X. The fluid was nice and red, but smelled a little burnt. the car only has 98,000 miles, but the previous owner had allowed the coolant to leak away while towing around a hot dog cart, so i suspect that caused some problems...
The reverse doesn't engage at normal-rev idle, I have to give it gas and then the reverse engages and I zoom backwards. Other times, it engages with a solid "clunk". (This is an automatic of course)
The fluid seems to be overfilled a little, and I don't always have this problem, only when the...
I've followed dirctions and disconnected the strut at the top, but it is still connected to the steering arm and at the bottom end.
Do I need to use a special tool? Or is ther some trick or technique I should use?
OK, I've done all the Stage Zero stuff.
Now I'm in the middle of installing Bilstein struts/shocks. I installed anti-sway bars and upper/lower front braces. I'm replacing some front-end bushings with poly, while I'm doing the struts.
I have a 2.5 inch high-flow catback arriving shortly and...
