    Locking lug nuts

So, locking lug nuts on virgos, tapered, stupid, and very much stuck. I have the key, so I'm 99% there. The old Electric impact won't even touch them, can't even break the studs because the key won't take it. No surprise, they're the rear ones. Already tried bashing sockets on with Mj?lnir and...

    How bad is my rust?

I posted this in OT on a whim and it of course went OT. I have an '80 242, lh2.4 b230f, aw71, black interior swap, ipd sways, b&g springs, with a +t in the wings... and bubbling cowl rust. Rusty floor pans, driver door, and who knows where else. Was scotia blue, then painted red, then...

    ATP Ultimate Wastegate pics

Since photobucket bogarted all of our links, I figured I'd post some pics of the most recent ATP ultimate wastegate. I purchased the mild steel variant, $168, and I think I'll be happy with it once I'm making boost. Also purchased the 8mm 1.25 studs ATP sells because I'm lazy. Here we go...

    Blue 242, the SlowRide

Glacial, this is the pace. I've been waiting a long time to find a 242. Originally, I was searching for a b230ft to refresh until I found a rolling 242, or a rolling 242 to refresh until I could put together a motor. Previously, had a '89 244, but school, Subarus, and responsibilities got in...

Blacked out grille, how to restore to chrome-ness

Help me fix this. PO murdered it out, I'd like to restore it to its original chromed plastic.. Besides scuffing and respraying chrome, has anyone ever successfully removed spray paint without destroying the plastic or chrome coat beneath? Yes, that's a V from a trunk badge. No, I didn't put...

    Idling and stalling problems

My girlfriend and I are moving in 2 days, and Murphy has reared his ugly head. I just replaced my OD solenoid to try and cure my no OD problem (wasn't the solenoid ), and I went to the store to get some dog food, come back out, start her up, and she doesn't want to idle. Sputters, give it...

    AMM connectors

Anybody know where I can find a female connector that will plug into the AMM wire? I want to take an AMM pigtail off a jy car and make an extension so I can relocate the unit forward, but also retain the ability to revert to stock incase something doesn't work out. I could just lengthen the...

    b230ft oil filter/sandwich plate arm

I'm trying to find a way to get my oil filter away from my motor mount, and I want to use the oil filter arm off a turbo car, but it will hit my lousy NA headerpipe. I'm wondering if the arm can be used without the sandwich plate, just screwing the filter on the arm itself, which might give me...

Turbo oil filter arm on NA car

T'was once an old thread about oil filter relocation kits, and in said thread there was a picture of an NA motor with the turbo filter/cooler arm installed with the filter pointing fore instead of aft. But now I can't find it. It seems like a good idea if you can move the alternator and PS pump...

    Coolant is 2 years old...

But should it be brown? I took a sample inside and let it settle, and there doesn't seem to be separating. Any ideas, I plan on flushing it some time next week. Oil and ATF is fine...

    Flame trap holder. (NA cars)

Has anyone else bored out the reduction in the flame trap holder? I realized today that the end that goes to the oil separator box is about 14-15mm, then the inlet reduces to almost half that, before dumping into the flame trap. So I used a pair of scissors like a pointed rasp and bored it out...

Normal vacuum reading for B cam

I'm getting 15 inches at idle with some needle shake. Granted this cam has more overlap than the M, so I guess the needle shake is normal. But when I close the throttle quickly, I'm getting 23-25. Any thoughts? Shouldn't it shoot closer to 30 inches then level out?

Best way to splice a AFR into the O2 sensor wire

Now that I got my mits on a narrow band, I am wondering what's the best way to splice into the signal wire? My girlfriend's computer's browser hates the search function, it closes everytime I do :e-shrug:

Exhaust setup (I didn't feel like cluttering the mech sections)

I'm wondering what you guys think of this setup on an NA 240, instead of having one muffler before the axle, and one after it, having both after the axle, and a straight pipe (well, as straight as it can be, with mandrel bends, with no cat) from the header pipe back. This way, one long...

Ever pop the top off an acorn nut?

I bought the iPd acorn nuts a while back for my valve cover (yes they are more than what I would have found locally, but I assumed iPd did their homework and sourced hardware that would work), and I found out that they are too shallow. Oil collects on the nuts and eventually behind and around...

    Dipstick o-ring size??

My dipstick popped last night, in spite of my ventilation system being clean (compression is good too ;-)). The o-ring is old and hard, and the sticks comes out of the tube easily. I went to lowe's, with the o-ring on the dipstick still, dipstick in hand, and they pretty much threw their hands...

So my beautiful valve cover is leaking...

I got it powder coated, and I sanded/polished the letters and filler cap mating surface, but didn't sand the coating off the head's mating surface. So she is a little leaky, nothing runnin' down the head or block yet, but this is what I do find: And another in the style of Volvopro: I have...

    Exhaust tomfoolery... Oh boy.

So I have been living a sort of exhaust nightmare. I brought my car by this shop that was "recommended" to me (never listening to that person again) where a friend of a friend would install a 2.5" cat back exhaust on the cheap. When he started, we noticed that the cat had been gutted already, so...

    Removing cam gear

What is the easiest way to remove and tighten the cam gear bolt(I have one of dale's and want to put it forward 2 more degrees) without removing the valve cover and actually grabbing the cam? Has anyone used a strap wrench on the gear?
