I resemble that remark:

The quick answer is that its doable with a lot of time and patience and ingenuity. Challenges include the above mentioned age and rarity of everything and just the physical size. The engine bay is...
I've become one of those lame 'too busy to work on the car' people. Sigh.
Almost exactly a year ago I took over engineering at this Ag-Tech startup and, frankly, so much creativity and effort has gone into that I just don't find myself working on this thing. I usually find if I'm solving...
Here's a link to my OHC conversion project: 142 Turbo v2.0. I've tried to document both the successes and dead ends. This was my first engine swap too and I've (effectively) done it twice.
Mine used custom mounts that someone (lost in the mists of time...) was selling in ~2003 with a B20 oil...
Sent the instrument cluster to Roger at RP-R Sports at the results are truly spectacular. By far the nicest part of the car now. Some illustrative before and afters below. Would highly highly recommend.
I ended up using an AN -8 bulkhead fitting as it's 3/4-16 threading and it was easy to nip off the 37* flares and chamfer the inlet/outlet for flow. As a bonus it has a hex making it easier to get it in and out. My block threading was really tight when I swapped out the long sandwich style stud...
Heh heh heh. Sigh.
That's sort of where I started: B20E with some go-faster-ish bits, a manual transmission, and a Nardi wood steering wheel. I ended up driving it up and down the coast a couple times and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of (at that time) rolling in a 30 year old daily driver...
Can someone put a tape measure on their rear brake caliper and tell me dimension A? I've had zero luck finding a drawing of these on the web.
I know how the fronts fit around the spoke interiors (could be better...) and I'm hoping to extrapolate that to the rear and see what level of hurt I'm...
A brief timeline to date
2002-ish: purchase the car, installed iPd bars, lowering springs, rebuild the brake system, put in some race seats, and drove it all over the west coast. The B20E was a huge amount of fun running 91 octane cut 50/50 with toluene.
2004-ish: buy a 1989 740T and begin...
In addition to lots of other crazy things (like building my own LH2.2/EZK engine harness - all soldered, no crimps ) I moved the distributor on my B230FT from the head to the block. Since getting the car running I've been experiencing some odd engine behavior...
So I have a little bit of a rough idle and serious missing at >3500rpm. Serious enough the under load rpms just stop going up. Oringially suspecting boost leaks I used an air compressor and some plumbing fittings to eliminate any leaks up to 15psi. After this the engine keep missing.
Last...
Okay, maybe I'm just totally clueless, but, this has me all confused...
I'm redoing an exhaust and it starts with a downpipe from a 740 that I want to run that into a Dynomax (or similar) Super Turbo or UltraFlow then out then a jog to the right for a before-rear-wheel exit. Easy.
I get under...
I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon as far pictures of cars go. Here's my '71 142 wearing the Canisto wheels I bought from Ardvark122. The rubber is 225 in front and 235 in back.
They fit the 142 perfectly although the grease caps are too tall in the front and I did need to roll...
