I?m working on getting a 1967 122 up and running. One nagging issue is that it won?t go into 1st gear. It?s like there?s a hard stop preventing it from going any farther. Also the shifter feels very sloppy compared to other m40/41/410s I?ve had in the past. Where I feel 1st gear should be is...
Does anyone know the minimum thickness the brake rotors for the P1800E can be turned to? My fronts measure .53" and rears .31". It looks like mine just need a light pass to true them up.
Thanks
Rob
So I just purchased a 1993 940 turbo wagon. When I test drove it I didn't notice any problems with starting or running. I go to pick it up a few days later and it wont start. The engine would crank but not fire. Eventually the battery started to die. We hooked up a set of jumper cables and...
The story:
I've been living in Indianapolis IN for about a year and a half now while I go to grad school. I was driving my 1989 244gl until the transmission started leaking live a sieve last May. My parents gave me the "family loaner", a 1991 Mercedes 300te wagon, as an interim vehicle until I...
Over the last 8months I've been driving my 1989 240 with a leaking AW71. I believe it's the Torque Converter Seal (but can't confirm @ this point). Fluid drips down right @ the center of the bellhousing. I would have fixed it a LONG time ago but I've been 150miles away @ graduate school.
Is...
After a few years of driving a Mercedes 300TE I'm back in a Volvo (almost). Purchased this '89 244 for $250. Leaked a ton of transmission fluid. Turned out to be an oil cooler line that chafed against the under body. A junkyard run and $6 later problem solved. Aside from a bad o2 sensor (I...
So I've been working on this thing for the past week or so & can't get it to run. I found and fixed two things that I hoped were causing this problem. First I didn't have switched power to the coil. Connected it via terminal 11. 2nd the distributor was off by 90* or so. Still not working...
So I'm priming the b230ft (out of a '94 940) and I hear this loud whining coming from the water pump. I see water seeping from the seals around the pump and this:
???? You can see the pump spinning inside. Is there any rational reason for this? I pulled the engine from the junkyard. Never...

I have my LH 2.2 swap just about done. Need some confirmation on where to hook up these last few wires. Where should I tie them in?
Red/Yellow (injector wires) Where do they go? fuel...
I'm trying to pull the camshaft from a b20 & don't have the right size socket for the nut that holds the gear on. It's bigger than 1 1/4". What size do I need?
Thanks
Rob
Anyone done this? I'm swapping out the MS for LH 2.2. I'd like to keep the stock ignition setup from my 242t. Looking at the LH EZK wiring diagram there are 4 wires that connect to both fuel & ignition ecu's:
yellow wire from pin24 (fuel) to pin8 (ign)
black/red wire form pin12 (fuel) to pin15...
So I have a brand new engine thats been sitting for a few years. I started it ONCE to do the initial break in but lost garage space soon after. I'm just now able to get back to the project. What should I do to ensure that nothing goes wrong when I fire her up again? Do I need to take it...
What's the part number for the o-ring that goes between the cooler adapter and block? I've searched online & can't find anyone that sells it for the b21ft. Then only thing I've found is for the b230ft & I'm not sure if it's the same.
Thanks
Rob
Took this off the front of a 1981 245. I've never seen this style on a 240 before. Almost looks like a rear valance. It's about 2.5" shorter than a regular air dam.
"normal" on bottom for refrence:
I purchased a set of used 19mm adapters off ebay. They are hubcentric, but not correct for our cars. The ID is too small and wont fit over the hubs. I thought about having them machined but I don't think there's enough material to properly enlarge them and keep the hubcentric ring. I would...
So I'm building a new dash for the 242 and getting rid of the stock cluster. I'll be using a large center tach and smaller spedo off to the side. For the rest of the gauges I'll be using smaller 2 1/16. I have a VDO boost & Volt gauge. I'm in search of fuel level, water temp, oil pressure...
