Well, may not have been my best call, but it did work out ok.
Settled on the Ecu being bad and not having a spare 16v ecu laying around, decided to toss in a 8 valve 2.4 Ecu and see if the fuel pump prime would work properly after removing the ground wire splice. It worked as intended...
Did a little digging today. Found a jumper wire the fuel pump relay. Confirms at least one issue with the ECU.
It is nice being able to pull the fuse box out on these 7/9 series.
Also, considering I've been in and out of this car several times over the last couple weeks, I was surprised...
Thanks to all for the encouragement!
Finally had time to work on this one a little. First valve cover gasket was a bust from roackauto. Wasn't a kit as described and was brittle.
Quick and easy refund on it and ordered an elring kit. Worked great. Unfortunately, no change in the rough...
Yes, but the pump is priming for 20 seconds or more instead of the normal couple seconds. Yesterday doing the fuel pressure test, it ran for probably a minute before I cut the key off. I'm going to dig deeper into it today or tomorrow.
Had some time today to start digging into this one. Evicted some ants that had taken up residence in the trunk and got some of the loose stuff off it with the shop vac.
I couldn't get the fuel line loose from the fuel rail without risking damaging the rail, so I disconnected the line at the...
2 inches of oil in 1 and 2, almost an inch in 3. At least 4 was clean. New plugs, wires, and cam cover seal should be here tomorrow hopefully.
May not be the whole issue, but it's a good start.
Also, fuel pressure was 46 psi with key on. Maintains at least 20 psi after an hour. Fuel pump...
Thanks! I should have plenty of spares around then.
Judging by all the oil around the valve cover, solid chance this is going on. Would this cause misfires?
I picked up a semi running B234 740 earlier this week. It was parked when it started running rough. I have checked the timing belt and it is correct, not jumped or anything. It fires up and runs rough almost like a bad MAF. Also wont idle without giving it gas. I haven't had time to dig...
I've had my eye on it for a while and figured if I bought it it would end up a parts car. I was surprised with the overall condition of it and the miles. Definitely worth saving this one.
Everything is for sale. I'm by no means attached yet. lol
Scored this jewel today. 2 owner car with 88k miles. Was parked when it started running rough. Previous owner said it will run if you give it gas. Look likes it will clean up good. Seats are almost perfect.
Checked the timing belt and it looked great. It's been done at some point, but...
Thanks! I'm ready to see the 242 build get started!
Thanks! I caught the video on youtube when you posted it. Looking good!
Hopefully in the next couple weeks I will be able to get back on the 242. The parts wagon left the shop in pieces the other day. It, along with some other projects...
Have fun with it. I left the heavy inner rail untouched and the bottom sheet metal layer of mine was in good shape. Take lots of measurements and mock up the front end before final welding since the core support and fender alignment relays on that apron section.
Also, be aware that if the...
