I chased down an ignition problem on my '86 740, and I found the coil wire all corroded at the cap due to the boot not sealing properly. I switched to the block-mount distributor about 2 years ago, and put on new plug wires then, but I think the coil wire was never the right one.

So the '86 745 w/ AW70 has decided it doesn't want to go into OD anymore... just popped into third one day on the highway. At first the light was still working and the relay was still clicking when I hit the button on the shifter. I opened up the relay and reflowed all the solder connections...
