1972 164E B230FT swap?

I see, I am going to take a look at my B30F manifold tomorrow and think about the next step. So far, it appears that the penta intake setup with the solex carbs might be the most economical. Thanks for the help everyone!
If you want carbs then I'd suggest finding the dual carb sidedraft manifold the carbureted 164s got and get a good set of SU HIF6 or Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. You can also go the triple weber route, but that is far from economical.

Penta Solex carburetors lack chokes and will be a pain to live with. With that downdraft manifold design you really want a choke.

I saw somewhere adapters to go from SU to downdraft Weber, like. DGAS or DGMS. I think for Jag applications? I'm curious how that would actually work out as far as linkage and driveability.

The Datsun and Triumph TR6 folks seem to like them, but you add a lot of bends to the intake. Air doesn't like changing direction.

Like these? I tried them on a Volvo manifold but they don't sit level IIRC.

I found a Chevy six in line distributor and to my surprise it is almost bolt on to Volvo B30. Lock both advance system and the biggest obstacle with ECU trigger is solved. Base and shaft diameter is the same. Shorten the shaft and maybe drill one hole for lock the pin.
I wholeheartedly recommend 123ignition distributors after using them on my B230A, turned my car from a barely running pile of crap into an extremely reliable daily, it would start on the first crank every time if i pull the choke. Installation was pretty easy, just needed to remove the drive gear from the old distributor and install it on the 123 distributor, from there its quite straight forward and there are documentations on how to set it up.

Feature wise it was pretty nice to be able to tune the curve and RPM limit all through my phone (mine was a TUNE+), plus if you are scared some dumbass might jack your ride you can disable the distributor through the 123ignition app :oogle:

I've used two of them so far and they've been the most trouble free ignition system.

A close second is the Bosch Breakerless setup that K jet cars got.

If you have any JY with old Datsuns - the EFi in the 75-78 280Z is not a bad setup - L-Jetronic, you can update it with a better set of injectors & a few odds & ends, but the ECUs really don't fail
