What's up everyone! I've been one of those members on the forum just lurking and reading up on various builds and seeing what everyone's got going in their garages. My background is LS swaps, mainly S10 platforms. My brother and I are involved in the world of AER (American Endurance Racing) and 24 hours of lemons, where we run a 6.0L 2nd gen pickup on track. So, I really enjoy road racing and competing but also enjoy cruising the streets and making a ruckus every now and then. So, with that being said...I pulled the trigger and picked up this basic brick with plans to make it a street/track car. Plans are to lower it a bit and get the suspension dialed in. I have an LQ4 sitting on a stand waiting to be installed into something and I think this might just be a good platform. First things first though...gonna get it cleaned up and address the obvious rust issues and get the body back to its original shape and then move on to other "more fun" area's. Keep in mind, this is my first 242...So this is gonna be a learning curve to say the least, so ill being asking a bunch of question's. I'll post when I can as I move along and begin to turn this into a flying brick slowly but surely. Here it is...

Cleaned up this inside a bit but there’s still a lot left to do but here’s a few shots. Also thinking about it over the past few days but I'm thinking on running the 2.1L that's in it for now just to move it around and maybe take it back and forth to work until i have the 6.0L built up.

That is the airflow sensor for the kjetronic injection. The air flows up through it raising the plate to determine how much fuel to inject. There is supposed to be a large rubber bellows that covers it and connects it to the throttle body under the intake manifold.

Gotcha! I really appreciate the info. Now to give a little insight into this motor...someone got into it tried to solve a fuel supply issue and stopped midway. So, there are certain parts and pieces missing. The boot that joins the manifold to the injection unit is gone and also the secondary fuel pump set-up that is mounted under the floor. That all being said... is there a way to eliminate the K-jetronic system? Like running a simple carburetor almost? I've converted EFI systems to carburation before and they've run great. All I wanna do is just get this thing running so that can move the car around the shop instead of pushing and pulling it everywhere.

Well you have a few choices. You can fix the kjet, swap to carbs or swap to a newer Volvo efi. Unless you find a good used OHC (volvo Penta?) carb setup it's going to cost as much to swap to carbs as to fix or even update to efi. Carb kits are very expensive now so my suggestion would be to fix the kjet or go Volvo efi. The parts aren't cheap for anything now so it's going to be some money to deal with it.

I hear ya. Either way isn't gonna be cheap which isn't much of an issue but looking into the conversion further, ill just gather parts to bring it back to OE spec and get it running. I appreciate the input dl242gt. Thank you.
