Did I miss the page where the Coronas got cleaned up? I used to hate on them because they're 14s but I'm thinking about burgling a set of them for my 144 when I get tired of the obliterated tires that are on it.

What was the deal? Powder coat again? How did you clean them up? Asking for you to do it for me a friend

10 million psi Acid pressure washer and 2000 degrees oven

Those pie plate center caps would always rattle on me and my friends cars. We would RTV them into place to stop that crap. The car would drive by and you could hear ching, ching, ching inside and outside the car.

Good stuff. Wheels look fantastic as does the whole car. :zeeall:
thank you
the wheels @vonheck sent me had rtv all over. If these are noisy I'll add some felt/foam tape
Gotta powdercoat the wheel wells
OMG just like the fronts the rear wheel wells will get a wash and 3m undercoating touchup where needed... when I do the rear suspension stuff

Man, did I hate cleaning Coronas when I had them- tedious work to get in between those fins!
I breifly had AAracki wheels on my 850, just as terrible. These being Powdercoated make it easy

first post, you even "liked it" :uh:

144 look great with steel wheels and white walls

blasted bare, smoothed the curbrash and powder coated. So far only few members on here got stuff coated by me ... I get messages all the time but it goes nowhere.

The only thing I don't like about OEM wheels on the 140s is that they're too damn narrow and stuck too far inboard. Needs more tuck brah

Also I had a set of ronas for my first 144 that I never used so I need them for that nostalgia factory. I'd love to get you to powdercoat my whole car but it's not super time/cost effective for me to do that :cries:

Narrow is good for tires, they’ll never wear out and makes speed limit turns feel like a downhill slalom

Appreciation post. Been reading the updates almost daily for the last couple of months, really great work. Attention to detail is second to none.

Does the cerakote work (as advertised) for reducing heat transfer? On my bike the header pipe is annoyingly hot and the turbo redblock I daily drive the heat in the engine bay is hotter than I like. Might be a good solution to reduce temps somewhat!

Thank you it’s been a fun project but taking too long

cerakote helps a lot with the temps. On my Amazon with a header it was really noticeable especially when I was adjusting the carbs. Seems like stuff cools off quicker too, you can touch the headers, turbo shield and exhaust manifolds within few min of the engine being shut off.

Just binge read the whole thread. Great work, keep it up.

"red zone" turned out OK... if I had taken my time, got better masking tape and a scalpel I probably would have done slightly better.. I can hear my virgin model building self yelling at me for being lazy. Fuck you Jack it's good enough and will be hard to notice when installed in dash

this one is the worst - I globed on too much paint and didnt let it dry enough before pulling the tape

not bad from a distance

Renewed orange needles make a huge difference, especially at night.

I'd love to know more about the rear wiper on your sedan.
