240 1987 replacing distributor cap retaining spring clip

Have a 1987 244 DL with Bosch distributor 0 237 520 004 and a broken spring clip for holding down cap in front; back clip is fine. A small piece of clip is barely visible still in slot that this flat band clip fits into. Have had two mechanics tell me I had wrong retaining clip. Ordered from Tasca Parts based on my dist. model number and it does appear to look the same as the back clip.

Does any one know if it is relatively simple to install clip once broken piece of clip removed? It appears like it may just be pushed into slot from outside of distributor. Also if small broken piece is accessible for someone who knows what they are doing taking the dist. out of its case to remove piece? Lasted four years with plastic tie strip wrapped around ignition pickup holding down cap.

If worse comes to worse, are there other distributors that will fit an 87 B230 without too much or any modification? Any insights getting a new spring clip installed, or replacing distributor much appreciated!!

The clip should hook in a groove or two little mounts, should just pop out if not you can just pull a distributor from the junkyard and put a new rotor and cap on it
