19t>>15g

What camshaft did you have?

An f'en M cam bro! Of course, there was a 3" ex that was extremely free flowing and a couple of other things too.

Now it's a ported and polished 530 with 38mm ex valves, a B cam, a ported intake manifold, port matched ex manifold / turbine housing, Cossie hotside, T04E cold side, and grooved. I've not yet run more then 8 psi, but that 8 psi crushes the 15g at 10 and the lag time isn't that far behind at all.

I'm honeslty considering going back to a T cam tho as I'm sure it's differences (less lift on the intake side among other things) will mean more torque in the bottom part of the rev range. I don't really plan on revving the piss out of this motor.

For anyone who says it isn't possible to get 300hp out of a TDO4HL I have to say that it is. A friend of mine has a V70 T5 with manual transmission and IPD chip, cat-back exhaust, and air intake and he just dyno'd his car at over 280hp, (forget the exact number). This was at the wheels, so if drivetrain loss is accounted for then that should be ~300hp at the crank. Granted this is on a 5 cylinder but it's just to show that it's possible to get 300hp out of a TDO4HL turbo.

We were talking 300 RWHP. Which on an 8v head and a TD04HL hotside would be damn near miraculous. But on the 16v head or say in a 20v head on a 5 cylinder ya it's possible. But After running faster than most of the guys here on a 15g, Without shedding weight or going to nitrous all you will ever have is a "quick" street car, not fast. They just can not breath well above 5500 rpms without some major headwork. But if you intend to stay with LH2.4 then i do think that the 19t is just about as big as you should go if you want to have some semblance of a reliable car.

Maxed-out flow wise, yeah...pretty damn close.

Miraculous? Not even close. Nothing miraculous about boost and octane...just takes a lot of both.

I would hope that everyone realizes 300hp is attainable on the TD04HL's. At least 2 ppl here have done it. It's just that most people who are tuning their daily drivers aren't going to run 23psi and C16 just to prove the point. ;-) I can't risk it on my 9...if I break it, I'm screwed.

If I end up keeping a TD04HL on the wagon, I will most certainly go for it. Does 19T count? I assume yes, as it's still a TD04HL.

ICECOLD...did you get a curb weight after gutting your 9? What did it come out to???

That sounds about right. Will you get to a scale when you can? I am really curious to see how light the 9 can get! I just weighed mine in at 3180 lbs.

300 on a TD04HL is one of those things that we are going to just have to wait and see on. And if it's going to be done on an 8v, it better be with an 18t and up.
