240 Coilovers: The Kyote Way

I would order just the sleeves and nuts from Coleman.....from what Im seeing the springs buckets thorugh hole wont fit our struts. They have 5/8 and 13/16. Our shafts are setup for a .705 diameter and a larger (still need to measure) But I would order the sleeves 2.08 and the nuts and either mod the stock spring turning bucket by welding on a pc of 2.5 tube or buy camber plates with spring buckets. Me personally dont like the idea of the steering being loaded on the strut pivot ball.

I have a catalog here if you want part numbers.

I had/have to grind down the strut tubes in order to get the colaman sleeves to slide over.. Its not much to grind off

Totally forgot about that.....Im doing that this weekend. Grind the paint off and just a little metal test fitting the sleeve. If you have a set of calipers thats best, but grind the tube and heat the sleeve in the oven for a bit to expand it....then with some good gloves slip it on.

I also plan to use some 2 inch sched 40 pipe as a weld on stop for the sleeve.

I didnt think of putting the sleeve in the oven.. Thats a damn good idea. Thanks Mate:oogle:

That also reminds me, replace dead battery in calipers

Yours takes a battery....mine has that dumb round thing with a needle in it....its always on.

Yep, thats what I did....level with the top of the steel tube, leave room so you can tighten the gland nut. Weld on stop ring, a slighly ground out 2 inch pipe will do that, about 1 inch long.....grind all the paint off and heat the sleeve, slides right on!

Order something cheap from Coleman. Then you get a catalog.

Just call or email, they will send one for free with no order. That's how I got mine.

Ordering my Coleman stuff this afternoon to go with the Ben stuff I installed this weekend.

I will take pics along the way and document the Coleman install with stock length Bilsteins as soon as I install.

Summit racing has really cheap springs. I'm planning on using their 300lb 9" springs with coleman hardware and stock length struts for now. 34.95 for both springs. Hopefully I'll have it done before Davis.

Probably shipped from 2 different places. One of my Summit orders was only about 6 items, but was sent in three separate boxes from different facilities.
