240 Coilovers: The Kyote Way

Thankyou again for posting your info. I just left the parts store. 940 insert is 44mm. 240 insert is 42mm. The saab short 9.3 insert that is supposed to fit the 240 is 46mm.

Not sure what Ill find, but Ill get my car tore down and get a dimension of the 940 inner strut tube and go from there. I think the konis will not match the 275lb spring I have here.....but I like the 4 inch shorter dimension. Maybe worth while returning these springs, getting something that will match the Konis....and shorten my 940 insert to fit them. Plus, I plan on getting a universal strut plate from Ebay so everything should work just fine.

They could have caster adjustment depending on which angle you mount them at... ( but it would be tied to the camber adjustment).

Can't we just slot out a pc of 1/4 plate and weld that to the car and make the camber plates caster units too?

I'm going to wait and see what EGR has to offer.

I want something like this, but with caster. (borrowed from Noah244it's pbase)

(I didn't mean to turn the coilover thread into a strut top mount thread)

k, just read this thread, cover to cover...

thought there was info here on making short struts and using saab 900 struts...

anybody got a link for that?

Nathan im running the $100 ebay camberplates with the saab 9/3 struts. Ben made a bushing to slide over the 9-3 strut shank and it fits inside the ebay camberplate

The nut that came with the struts was a bit to thick so i went to a hardware store and got a thinner one.

You can see the bushing here

The way i mounted these plates is ghetto, but eventually ill do what noah did above and weld in a steel plate with the camberplate pattern on it.

When i weld the steel plate in i will set the slots far back on the plate for maximum caster.

I have looked all sorts of camber plates.......what spring bucket and pivot bearing get used there? Or does it use the unit ball? I found a nice plate for a 280z and he supplies the spring cup and torenton bearings.

Their website sucks a wide assortment of genitals. Hopefully I can find everything I need. Otherwise I'll have to order a catalog or buy from Summit and wait weeks for them to ship.
