240 engine swaps

Hello, I've recently been entertaining the idea of a turbo 5 cylinder (b5234t4) or the twin turbo inline 6 (2.9L forget the model number.) However my only issue is the transmissions, im not spending a whole bunch of money just to slap an auto in. The engine mounts you can find online to adapt it to the regular mounting holes on a 240 (for both t5 and t6). The 5 cylinders you can find adapter plates for T5 transmissions and TKX's all day long from places like yoshifab etc. But the T6 motors I can't find anything for them to save my life... Am I missing some secret swedish websites? I have seen a few t6 videos of people in Sweden adapting those motors to manual transmissions but they don't provide any info.

To give context to my build, I want a motor that responds better to boost (and sounds better imo) and other power adding mods than a built redblock (fully forged which I'm still considering,) just exploring my options as I've always wanted both a t5 and a t6 motor in my 240 at one point, and I don't want to go basic LS.

* For the record a fully built b230 is cool, just not super unique, at least here in oklahoma I've never seen a 20v or a 24v under the hood of a 240, and any help or leads would be greatly appreciated for a t6 manual swap🫡
 
The B6284T motor from an S80 T6 has the same bell housing bolt pattern as the other "white block" motors like the B5234t4 you mentioned. In my opinion the scope of a white block, especially T6 in a 240 is huge. Take a look at the build threads and see how much progress has been made on the cars over the course a few years.
 
Use the bellhousing from a b6304 960 ish vehicle. That trans bolt pattern is pretty common. Can get adapters (here on Tb) to fit a t5 and the intrawebs to fit a toyota w58 or equivalent.

My main question with that is, with that bellhousing and a yoshifab t5 bellhousing adapter would I use the what clutch fork would I use, then the other things from a Ford trans and the rest is history? Maybe I over thought this by a long shot..

Don't use a clutch fork... hydraulic TO bearing FTW. (yes, that means you also need to modify your clutch fork for the clutch master cylinder (yes... gonna need one of those too))... The hydraulic clutch in my 240 feels amazing.

Dave Barton, as always, has the rabbit hole version of information concerning the 240 hydro clutch conversion.

Some great info there, I had the hydraulic TO in mind, and the hydraulic seems to eliminate alot of headache if done right. I appliance the help! .... T6 it is!

I've had a six cylinder with a W58 behind it in my 242 for the last ~8 years. I'm a little mixed on the W58 to be honest. The ratios are pretty good and it's a nice and quiet. The shifter feel is a bit mushy but acceptable.

Fitting it was kind of death by 1000 cuts. The "bolt-on" toyota adapters you can buy aren't really bolt on and require various things to be ground off and clearanced. Clutch release has been a constant low-level headache, I don't think anyone makes a bolt on concentric slave cylinder so something will need to be adapted. The shifter also does not line up well at all, I ended up moving the shifter back about 65mm and up 15mm to line up with the hole in the tunnel. This required judicious cutting and welding of the shifter tower and internal linkage rod, not necessarily for the faint of heart.

So when you had the w58 I heard the bellhousings are the same as the Toyota 1UZ.. Can I run a 1UZ adapter plate with one of their manual bellhousings? I would like to know what bellhousing you used which adapter plate you decided to give a try etc. Custom fab work is kinda the name of the game go down the rabbit hole lol.

I just can't wrap my head around what is needed for the bellhousing, clutch fork, clutch, throwout bearing, and flywheel (is it all w58 parts? Is the flywheel a 1uz flywheel?.) Fitting the trans is just like any other non conventional trans swap

Straight to the point! I saw buchkas 242 but I may have seen the wrong forum because it didn't show any info like what you linked. I like the idea of hydraulic TO, it relieves alot of my headache but presents some more.. So the method of adapting the w58 is based solely off of buchkas correct?
 
You're in the midwest. Why not LS? Cheaper and easier. Aftermarket is vastly better. Whiteblock swaps are cool but is that cool factor worth it to you? I've been building my b230 just because I've always wanted to but I recommend LS to everyone that looks at it and ask how much work/money was it.

Yeah its more of the fact I've had this car as a roller for like 6 years and it's eaten away at me lol. However I like to engine swap within the family sort of speak, it's not all about power, I like the way the volvo it's can sound, plus they respond pretty well to boost
