240 LED dash light Q's

Man volvogeek, where were you when I did this a year ago?
LOL writing this up - I did it back in Jan of 12.

I think the 39mm will work - ive ordered them but haven't gotten them yet. We'll see and I will post the results.
Anything between like 35 and 45 will probably work, you'll just have to bend the tab inside a little more (or less) depending on the size.

Write-up is awesome. Thank you for that!
Welcome! :)

Need to bump this for some assistance.

I've ordered the LEDs I need for the instrument cluster, but for the life of me I can't get the old bulbs loose from the twist lock holder. After soaking one in hot water I was able to get it out, but the LED will not fit. Anyone able to throw some tips my way?

Soaking in hot water?! Pics? You're talking about the two main 194 bulbs for the cluster?

Yes, the 2 wedge based cluster bulbs will not come loose from the twist lock connector. I even picked up spares the last time I was at pick n pull and they are not coming loose either u

For the instrument lighting I use a 168 bulb if I recall correctly. Yes, the bulb can be difficult to remove from the base. But they do come out unlike the later cluster bulbs which have the base attached to the bulb. I put the wedge base leds in my 82 turbo for instrument lighting. Make sure you verify the led polarity and put them in the correct way.

I don't like to use leds for the small bulb locations. Maybe in a switch but for the small bulbs I like to use the stock stuff. I buy the long life versions if I can.
