What seats would fit a 1984 242 fairly simple. Id like something that would look correct and of course feel comfortable.

What has anyone done?

Thanks in advance.

Vic

A 242 seat fits in there and is fairly simple and correct. Or get the $85 http://www.kaplhenke.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=33

I have put a later (1986-1993) sedan seat in my 84 242 and it fit just fine. Only problem is that because it came out of a sedan, the push button that allows the seat to pivot forward is not on it. Therefore all backseat passengers must get in through the passenger side which still has the original coupe seat.

now were talkin. I have an extra set of sedan 92 seats, but thought of that problem of not having the button to move it forward. The 325's sound good. I'look into those.
My 242 has original leathers and they are shot...foam and all.

Thanks

Vic

The release mechanism can be switched to a sedan seat, thus allowing it to fold forward. Neatly cut your hole for the latch and wallah - you have a coupe seat.

My suggestion is to repair the seats or to move the release to a different seat nabbed at a junk yard. I reupholstered my front seats (haven't gotten around to the back yet) and its pretty easy to do...even if you are making your own seat covers from scratch

Non power ricaros from a 325 BMW.

well I did it. My original seats were bad, in the junkyards all volvo (850/s70) seats were rubbish and cost too much for them.
I got very cheap pair of bmw e36 manual recaro seats in grat condition.
BUT the I would not call mounts as 'easy to fit'. Also these seats are not so authentical as 850/s70 would look in a Volvo 240.

Here are some pictures of what kind of mounts I made. If I had to do it again, I would definately remove that 'box' of original volvo 240 seat mount and in its place make lot simplier system.

The only good thing with my conversion is, that I can stiil fit my original seat on 3 stock bolts (4th doesn't fit) to get pass MOT.
