I have been making some slow progress on my 16valve turbo project lately, I have a few pictures to share.
I have been dragging my feet on the whole thing, because I didn't want to disable the car. I need it for backup transportation. I have a pretty long daily commute, and would really hate to be without a running car if something failed. But, staring at the pile of parts finally got the best of me. I decided to have faith in my 740 for transportation and started dissassembly of the 242 for the engine swap. Right now, I am just trial fitting the head to start work on the header and intake.
Here is a teaser:
Some more pictures and info are on my website at: www.denverspeed.com/242gt.html
There is way more room for the turbo than I expected. I'll start building the header over the next couple of weeks.
I was hoping that I could use one of the existing Volvo distributors somehow. Either the rear mount distributor with a little firewall massaging, or the block mount distributor somehow. But, really it now looks like I am going to have to figure something else out. The Ford EDIS/megasquirt setup might be the way to go with this. I just can't see how I can get a distributor to fit on this thing. So, i guess I am back on the hunt for an adapter to fit the Ford trigger wheel to my crankshaft.
Anyway, thats all I have time for now.
