Need to mount a kill switch somewhere. Not many good options.

Any thoughts/examples?

custom taillight?

OMG yes.

Build something like this so the light swings open.

Not mine.

Drop an email to adrian at pikeapps dot com and I'll send you the photos I just took - I'm on my phone and it'll be a PITA to host them right now.

You can kinda see it in my sig pic, but I'm using the summit relocater kit out the back. My battery's in the right rear buttcheek.

Mine is probably not legal...but it's where my buttcheek use to be. It's nice because you can't really see it when looking at it yet easy to get to.

I think it has to be literally on the back of he car, not just the rear half - would it even be NHRA legal integrated into the rear vent? I will have to double check. If it can be mounted something like that, then that's fine, I'll mount it to the buttcheek or something, but i thought it had to be on the back.

Half the problem is most of the switches are also mega-ugly.

Maybe on the c pillar just above the tail light.

Bumper is a no go as I daily the car so I don't want it that "exposed" .

It's be nice if they made something that mounted pretty flush but had an easily removable handle on it, so you could just install the handle when you go to the track.

Does it have to be mechanical? If not just use a hefty battery isolator operated by a momentary push button. Most if not all modern rally cars are set up like that. Far easier to position and far shorter lengths of heavy duty wiring.

Ambulances here use these so the crew can instantaneously cut all electrics if there is an incident or if they leave the vehicle. They're a good source of very high spec used ones. I wouldn't be surprised if military surplus places will have them too.

Yeah if my memory of the NHRA rules serves, it has to be mounted directly on the rear of the car. Which is too bad because the little side vent would be the perfect location. My idea was to mount it inboard and use something like this and drill a hole right through the taillight, then create a little red cap for the hole and mount the extender only on track days.

M.

That is my understanding too. SCCA has the same requirement too I believe.

NHRA wants it in the back. I would get the T handle extension deal and mount it push/pull style through the rear bumper.

Yeah, that's been a concern of mine too, but luckily I haven't lost my radio settings yet due to some kid thinking they're funny... A bigger concern is somebody clicking it while the car is running and giving me a sooper bitchen(tm) spike. One of these days I need to figure out how to wire in an alt kill.

The handle that summit sells and Mark mentioned has a little heim joint that would be pretty easy to take off.

you can also do this in a spare tail light and just swap the lights out for street and track appropriately.

Kenny,

If I recall correctly you have an electrical flap for a trailer harness or something already in the rear bumper?

If so could that not be the connection point for a handle?

If not this crack is really really good!!!!!!!!

I can't find pictures of mine, but on my 244 I mounted mine on a panel behind the gas door because I am running a cell. You more than likely have a hole where gas is supposed to go behind your gas door I am assuming
