The ac expansion valve in my 1993 945T got so hot it deformed and no longer works. I assume due to the turbos heat since the turbo heat shields were removed by the PO.

Does this make sense?

I went to Advanced auto parts to purchase it and they have two, One costs $2.99 the other $20.99.

Comments, suggestions welcome.

Thanks

93 should be a 134 car already so the cheep one should be fine. Ger a piece of aluminum and make a head shield to cover the line where the expansion valve is. Just has to screw to the frame with some self tapping screws and bend around the line.

If you had a heat issue inside the line you'd have high pressure sides so cray that you would have blown a rubber line apart or triggered the safety valve on the back of the compressor which should open around 450psi
