940 turbo speed warning

Hi guys,
A friend of mine has just bought a nice '92 940 turbo. He enjoyed the power for a whole week during city driving. Last weekend he drove at the highway and discovered a very annoying audible speed alarm that came in at about 120 kph. I think that device is not in US spec cars.
Anyone knows how to disconnect or adjust it?

i once tried to go 100 mph deliberately just to see how stock turbo pulls on an nearly empty stretch of i-25 in nice dry conditions for a minute or so. I did not hear any sounds like this.

yea he said its not on us-spec cars...80 mph is interstate speed here lol
