A/C pump belt useful?

Good morning. 89 744ti. My A/C has been converted since I have owned it, and it has never worked. Seems to be frozen, since an attempted refill of R-134 would not even take. Unimportant, since I am in NH and rarely need it. Does anything else run from that pump? I was thinking of removing the belt for that extra massive power boost. Not much drag I am sure, seems ancilliary at this time though and may as well not spin at all. I know defrost is part of the system, but since it doesn't cool anyway will that affect the defrost?

It just runs the pump on my '91 745.

Your fine taking it off. The compressor runs the AC and only the AC. 700/900 cars don't have anything else attached to it, so your golden

thanks all. went and verified power steering hoses when I read the forst post, and the following ones verified it would be okay. now to tighten the PS belt and we're good to go. noticed it was loose.
