A Rescued 93 240 Wagon

Pulled the wagon out of the shop finally.

Also I designed this 240 dash panel insert because I want to add some custom things, with the PEI plate on my 3D printer it almost looks stock.

The car doesn't currently have a radio so I'm installing a sneaky bluetooth adapter there to an amp/speakers.

You can download it here: https://grabcad.com/library/volvo-240-dash-panel-insert-1

@fatcatbestcat had the filler neck I needed in his parts car, so I got the car back together - I really hate that filler neck clamp 😅. If its just slightly out of alignment it won't go on. I thought I had it, but then went to mess with the exhaust because it was hitting a crash triangle and it popped off when I lowered the tank slightly. On there proper now.

I ended up removing the crash triangles, I wasn't going to but they're off for now. They might go back on if I can get an exhaust fitted nicely.

While the tank was dropped I figured out why my new pump was buzzing so much. The tank was dented in the bottom and it pushed the baffle against the pump. So I hammered it back down and its quiet again.

Took the car to costco and loaded it up. Felt great on the overload springs, which are usually super bouncy.

I didn't realize how close the exhaust(muffler) was to falling off. Decided to side pipe it but still use a muffler. Sounds less like a broken tractor, and more like a regular tractor. I found a single sided exhaust and it fit perfectly in the stock place.

Somehow, an hour after posting it to marketplace, I sold the wagon for $4500CAD. Was hoping for a little more but I’m happy with the deal. I told him to join here so maybe you’ll see it!

I just wasn’t using it enough, and the square body Suburban will be here forever so the wagon didn’t have a purpose. Time to put my effort into the 242GT.

He’s taking it on a 4 hour maiden voyage!🤞

End.

Hey Sean, I made a turbobricks account lol (I bought the 240 wagon) Thank again man, made it back no issues super excited to start working on it!
Hey, Awesome!
Yeah was going to say to you to read this thread. I still have the "Crash Triangles" if you want those(or give them to your friend in guelph). (look back in this thread) they are pieces of metal that push into the rear brakes to stop the axle from going into the tank in a rear end collision. Some people take them off, some want them, I think euro cars never got them. I took them off for some exhaust issues, never put them back on

Also, there is another thing with the driveshaft, to me it hasn't been an issue, but was going to be something I was going to fix in the future.

Look at this thread. https://www.turbobricks.com/index.p...aft-issue-has-me-stumped.381362/#post-6545647

I recently replaced the center support bearing, but noticed the driveshafts were out of phase like 5 degrees. Typically the u-joints on the front shaft when connected through the slip joint are in phase. But the teeth wouldn't align and this one is a few degrees out. I don't think it would cause an issue, but the OCD in me wanted to fix it. I put on a stock rear shaft from the parts car, thinking it was the rear shaft that was replaced at some point, but the slight misalignment was still there.
So I think its the front shaft. The parts car (below) still has one I could take off for you, I was planning on doing it at some point. But you also said you wanted to manual swap it, so then all that will change anyway. Up to you.

OH Also! I gave you that sheet metal frame support piece, but it wasn't actually for the wagon, yours have no holes in them. It was for my 242 🤣 - so if you're ever in the area, I could use it, but otherwise not a bit deal.

There are still parts on @fatcatbestcat and my infamous parts wagon.
:)

He's not local unfortunately. 😂

Hey yeah for sure, I will get my friend to stop by, and yeah the manual swap wont happen for a while will need to find a trans at some point. but I think i can make a drive out there soon and drop off the frame support piece. I am curious about the driveshaft as i havent had a chance to look at that. so you think the front drive shaft is the fix for the misalignment?

Nothing is for sure, but the back half drive shaft off the same car, so you would essentially be swapping the whole driveshaft over from a known car and eliminating the unknown. would be worth it to have both halves together again, Ill grab it next time I'm there.

But as you saw it drives just fine as is and if I never had to change the center support I probably wouldn't have noticed.
