what is the thread and size of the factory oil pressure idiot light sender?

I am trying to add a turbo oil pressure guage. the problem is adapting the small pressure sender to the large b230f hole in the block.

size does matter after all

It's 14mmX1.5, same as spark plugs.
Adaptors to 1/8-27 NPT are available at most parts stores.
The sender with the correct thread is available from egauges.com, but it's pricey.

well im back.

Sunpro part CP7573 worked great
I now have the adaptor and 3 way T for my soon to be b230f+t. BUT with the key turned to ON the gauge reads 0. my 3 bar gauge starts at 0 and jumps to max at idle. Shut off engine and gauge reads 2bar for a second then drops to 0.
I have tried the gauge wired to G and WK.

maybe the sender is bad or wrong one. both are possible bring junk yard parts.

aaahhhaaawww crap I used teflon tape. Will teflon tape cause bad pressure readings. Possible screwing with ground.

Yes, thread tape will screw with the ground. Make sure you are using iron adapters for your oil pressure T. I had one break using brass fittings. The easiest place to get pressure on a B230 is the 1/4 NPT hole at the front of the block near the water pump. See this link.

http://brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineLubrication.htm#Flickering_Oil_Pressure_Light

If you Tee out from the factory sender location the shaking load from engine vibrations will break brass pipe fittings. IT HAPPENED TO ME!!!! Before the fittings broke I also broke two autometer senders because of the vibrations. It's much safer to use the 1/4 NTP hole at the front of the block. If you want I can email you pictures of my setup.

what is this

in this picture what is the banjo bolt aft of the oil filter for?
OilPressureTestPort.gif

can you get oil pressure from there?

What's the tee for?
G is for the gauge, WK is for the idiot light.
Most cars have more than 3 bar at idle, that's why a 5 bar gauge is a good idea.

my b230f has ahex plug in that spot. Can I use that as the oil feed for the turbo when I go B230F+T?

I am going crazy wanting to move forward on going TURBO. So many drivers on the road hate to be behind a old Volvo. I want to make the drivers WORK a whole lot harder to pass me.

the tee is for oil feed to the up and comming turbo.

Sorry, I thought it was just for a pressure gauge. You should still probably use the fitting on the front of the block. I know at least one other Tbricker using that fitting for turbo oil.

Use a single adapter at the stock oil pressure port location for the oil pressure sender. Use the 1/4" plugged hole on the front of the block for the turbo oil feed.

If you have a block that's already drilled/tapped/plugged for an oil feed at the stock location, then use that.

so on the b230f the banjo fitting aft of the oil filter is for oil? On a 740 or 940 what is connected there?

The picture shows a turbo block. What you pointed at is a stock turbo oil pick-up. NA blocks do not have this hole.

alternative

You can also relocate the oil sender on top of turbine, this way you have no clearance problems mounting it and it's a lot easier to check. Sorry for the dark picture.

This setup has worked fine for 7,000 km for me now.

Good luck

I will submit a picture of my block tonight, so we can see what port is pluged on the block.
