Alex's 88 760GLE

Updates....

Fitted the muffler to it, it then melted around it and I had to cut some of the plastic away to stop it melting, due to me misjudging the angle it was meant to be on. Sounds nice too. Not drony either :)

With my new car.

I love this car, done 15k on it so far in the past 6 months, up to the 4th oil change running BP eco 10W-40 in it now. Goes well, I think the plugs are due for replacement again, being cheap copper ones, left the old ones for 10k and they were really out. The car goes so well for what it is, but the torque converter has some major slip....

Just ordered a pair of 11"X5"X5" 300lb Hypercoil springs to replace the 200b springs it currently has in the rear, if it raises it that's awesome, but I don't think it will and I'll need a spacer, but it will hopefully handle better, really want the car to feel better then it is now...

Also scored a 10" sony xplod sub, bought a secondhand Kicker box and an ebay mono amp, the vendor I bought it from rebuilds them so they are a reliable unit, just need wiring for it next and I'll then be on my way to blowing up that sub...

Fitted my rear springs and it handles better, oversteers a lot easier and it stays up higher on the rear even with 3 people in the back, which is awesome!
Yellow is the 200lb kings springs, 300lb Hyperco's in blue.

My mis-purchase of a 13" spring against the 11" that went in.

My AMM died the other week, currently running the 740T's AMM to keep the car going, stupid rebuilt AMM!

As my phone hadn't been talking with the computer I haven't been able to post any visual updates, but now I can cos its working and I've been busy as I've been on holidays for a week.

Been mentioned in the installation guide from the Brits, but the stock tube is so thin and lacks pressure!

but if you slide that yellow cover up on the HD damper you'll see the HD shaft is much thinner then on the shaft on the black stock one. as the top silver bit on the HD is what the bottom black bit is on the other damper, they're inverted see

it's looking good, whens the 24V going in.

i had a pick somewhere of one of those inverted shocks with the cover removed, the damping shaft is only about 10mm thick and it doesn't need to support loads like the none inverted stuff.

24V won't be going in for a long time, this is a DD for the moment, the Turbo is going to get attention first as it's cheaper to build then what rods and pistons are going to cost me for the 24V...

Yeah the hydra's are going on before the other 16's as they have tyres on them and one rim isn't buckled, the other rims are Performance brand ones and were on Cam's 740T when he sold it to Andy.

Such a sexy interior.....

Thats the thing that stands out the most to me sadly. 89 740, with a broken ass old tan interior...How bad was the 940 interior swap? Mainly the seats needs the work =p

So do I, I even have the 242 I copied the style from as my background, except he has all 4 steelies on the car and they are widened, which I'd love for mine.

Installed my Hydra's, the rear tyres are 90% Savas in 205/55, the fronts are 50% firestones in 205/50, the car feels better now and it will go faster through a corner before the tyres give up (though the Hankooks I had on the front weren't too good at all compared to the Dunlops I previously had on the front). Having a wheel alignment done tomorrow so it will feel better to drive moreso hopefully.

Indicator fell off again dammit, really need to buy a new headlamp and I will be going for the clear indicators.

And the car looks awesome with them to boot!

I'm looking to upgrade my suspension in my '90 760 and I like the route you took. I really want to take those nivos out and stiffen and maybe slightly lower the whole thing too. I'm just wonder how satisfied you are with everything.. is there anything you might have done a little differently? From what I understand you have bilstein hds all around with Hyperco 11"-300lb springs in the back and Kings 160lb low springs in the front correct? Do you know the length on those Kings.. I'm in the US and want to find something local.

The fronts for you, I believe H+R's are the ones that will do the same job, they are stiffer by about 10-15lbs, and it will probably feel better, the fronts are the same as any other 7, I want my front a bit stiffer then it is now, but it feels pretty good. The rears are the 11x5x5 hypercoils which are perfect as you can see in the pics.

The only thing I am missing is the rear sway bar, but to do it properly i need to grind my subframe a bit and install the 960 handbrake cables.

Finally started on my retrimming, all I need to do now is strip the foam from the plastics and the headliner and glue on the new fabric, and do the sunroof, bought another one that isn't corroding, and will also make it easier to retrim that way.
