So I’m assembling a set of front struts for the 245. I had a set of empty strut tubes laying around and got some new shocks, springs and topmounts.

Just wanted to confirm I’m not missing any washers or other small parts here.

Shock - dustboot - spring - upper spring perch - top mount - nut

Obviously no spring in these pictures…

The HD boots aren't blue? I must be living under a rock. There's usually a nice thick washer between the spring perch and strut mount. The upper spring perches are different left and right.

They are Bilsteins, NOS marked ”West Germany”.

Looking at this picture it seems I’m only missing the washer underneath the top nut. What is that plate next to the upper spring perch?

The parts catalog calls it a spacer plate and sealing ring with a note that it's for 245 vans. There's an (N) after that which means it was only for Norway I think.

Hmm. I removed the top nut off the struts that are on the car now. I’m pretty sure they’ve never been changed.

No washer! What gives?

So I did mine a month or so ago and it was definitely original from 92. There was NO washer there on mine either. I put the new struts and strut mounts on without them
