240 Anyone try the VP Autoparts 240 steering rack?

I went with the AAE 3091N from Rock Auto, it was $345 with no core. Looks nice, good packing, nice information sheets for install and maintenance and another magnet. I will update after I see install it but seems like a good deal so far.
Mine arrived yesterday, same exact packaging and in perfect shape. Won't get to install it for a while, but hopeful it works well.

Hoping you guys could give me some advice, since this thread is a lot more active than all the other steering rack threads I could find.

I have a ZF rack from my '88 240 wagon that I need to replace. It seems like the ZF style replacements are unobtainium.

Could I get one of the different style racks from FCP or Rockauto and use one of those?

What the current consensus on the best one to get?

I would need different mounting hardware, correct? Would it be the CAM style mounting kit that I need?

You can have your rack rebuilt at a rebuilder like the one mentioned earlier in the thread. The ZF rack is considered the better feeling steering rack of the two main types. If you do go for a new rack yes, you will need the Cam style mounting parts.

I'm not sure if getting my ZF rebuilt would work in the timeframe I need to get this fixed.

If I get the AAE rack from RockAuto, would the CAM 2/3 mounting kit here be the one I would need? It looks like there are a few variations available.

Theres an ebay link from the same supplier that says it covers the later models= “Power Steering Rack & Pinion 1979-1993 Volvo 240 260 Series with Cam 3”

That's the kit I bought to fit the AAE rack onto my 1978 242 and I needed almost all of the parts in tandem with the original mounting hardware, FWIW. I think I ended up with a couple bolts left and that top piece in the picture there.
