Are the 2008-2016 XC70 cross bars the same as used on other models?

A few months ago I bought a 2016 XC70 Platinum, after asking a bunch of questions here, and I really love the car. I'm using the car regularly and my 1992 745T has been sitting for a while now (occasionally started and ran around the neighborhood a few times). I'm missing the tow hitch, dog gate, and roof rack from my 745. The 2016 XC70 looks to have the rails in place and just needs a set of cross bars (please excuse me if I have the terminology wrong). I am planning on visiting Harry's U-pull in PA soon and I am wondering if the spacing (width) on the roof rails is the same on some other model? I'd think that I'd have a much easier time finding a set if I can include more models in my search.

Anyone know what other, if any, models or years have cross bars that will fit my car?

It would be wonderful if the dog gate and / or tow hitch was the same as other models as well. I know that it is a stretch, but I figured that I'd lump everything in one post.

Thanks in advance, Ken

They are pretty different, I actually have a complete set of bars for my 2014 XC60, but they are from the 2018+ and are just off,

Here's the OEM accessory list. If you click through to the individual parts you can see the part #s.

A number of websites sell them new still.

Looking at the appearance they may just be Thule parts with Volvo branding, and possibly generic mounting feet. But the OEM ones are much cheaper than Thule, so that's what I'd buy if purchasing new. ;)

Thanks to all who answered. I had read the replies earlier, but didn't have the time to buy anything. Now, I'm ready!

At Tasca (recommended in a reply to this thread), I have found a set of new Volvo bars for $300, plus $50 for shipping. I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows the load weight capacity of these bars? It'd be silly for me to order a set if they aren't able to carry the weight that I'm hoping to load (I would think that the Aerodynamic profile might be weaker than the square box Thule's that I own for my 940 Wagon.

EDIT: I went ahead and ordered a trailer hitch for the car at the same as the roof rack bars. I have heard that they are a bit difficult to put on. If I remember correctly, I think it is listed as a 9+ out of 10 in difficulty. Any suggestions / tips for the install of the hitch are also greatly appreciated. I'll have to search on YouTube for the video I watched of a users installation. From what I remember, he did a nice job explaining the process as he was going along.

Anyone know where to get the wiring / module for the hitch? I'm figuring that I'll have to search at Volvo, but I'm afraid of the pricing!

Again, Thanks to all who reply / replied!

Imo hitch install on these isn't any more difficult than on a mk2. Remove rear bumper and crash bar, drop the exhaust as much as rear subframe allows, remove exhaust heat shield and install hitch. Some install quides say to ditch the crash bar even though it fits straight back on. Years ago there were hitches that required cutting the crash bar but haven't seen those in a while.

Looks like availability for a plug-in aftermarket hitch harness in the States is worse than in Europe.

Thanks, I hope that you are right. Of course that is a lot more involved than putting one on a 940 ;)

I'll see what I can find. If I have to ship one from Europe, I'll pay the money and get it done. But, then of course, there is the money I'll have to pay the dealer to update the software to allow the module to work. Perhaps I'll buy that DICE adapter and flash do it myself? Maybe I'll set up the remote start at the same time!

Now, if I can just find a dog / parcel gate...

Nevermind... I figured out that, since they are Volvo bars, I could get that information from the Volvo website.

In case anyone is wondering it's: 100kg / 220lbs

Technical data

Accessory weight:5 kg (11 lbs)
Load width:1200 mm
Max. load capacity:100 kg (220 lbs)

Nope. An aftermarket plug-in harness needs just to be plugged in. No programming and that couldn't be done at Volvo anyways, because its not OE.
