is it ok to put a b21a aux shaft in a b230? b230 is from 1988 (rear thrust verified)
b21a=1980 model

problem is i used this engines (b230) aux shaft in my 1996b230ft and i only have one b21 spare aux shaft.

is there a tolerance spec between aux shaft and cover?
(caulk instead of a "paper"gasket)

Shafts can and have been interchanged, only difference is the dizzy drive tooofies.
And yeah you want the gastket in there to establish distance---I tried it the modern way with Drei-Bond, or tri-Bond or Yama-bond or Ultra-Grey which is the hot sheeet sealer.

hey john, do you know of anyone who balanced there aux shaft? we had one let go on a stock car not long ago and i think it was due to it being crazy out of balance, i haven't heard of people balancing them but i was thinking about it because im near done with my motor.

Wrong john, but that's almost certainly a waste of money. It turns at half engine speed, and the diameters of the farthest out mass are miniscule. In short, it's not going to make any difference. If you had one break, I'd wager money it wasn't due to any imbalance in the shaft.

+1

gonna be pretty hard to balance something that has lobe driven items that touch it. By definition those are gonna be out of balance.
