So I bought a b20 dual outlet exhaust manifold off the feebay. Was listed as "crack free". After waiting over 30 days from when it was marked "shipped" it finally showed up.

Here's the pics from the ad

Here's the 2 inch crack on the outside of the collector area

What do you guys think? Run it? I've run b21 turbo manifolds with similar cracks without issue so just seeing what the panel has to say....

PayPal allows you 45 days to file a PP claim against the seller. Do it *NOW*.

You could probably weld it, but if the seller makes good on the return you will be getting rid of a pretty shabby looking manifold. You should be able to get hold of one on the f/s boards. I gave away a couple w/Weber conversions last year.
They do crack, and the carb manifold cut in 1/2 seems to hold up better than the B20F ex manifold.

Personally I'd see about getting that welded up and go from there.

I have a couple of those in good shape from parting 140's, but haven't listed them.

Supposedly they flow the best of the B20 exhaust manifolds according to Rusty at RPR.

Yeah I mean it's actually not in bad shape other than the crack. I haven't seen a whole lot of these for sale and they are supposed to be the best flowing

I see them going down in the yards from time to time. but at ~$45 to buy them at PnP it's a tough flip.

That said, back in 2007 when people were still 'doing up' B20's Rusty was getting $150 for a nice one.

So who knows what the market is anymore?

There were seven bids on this one and I ended up just over $100 including the $25 shipping. Really didn't want to go that high but I got carried away and it was described as crack free

Strange I had no idea that the vintage revival was pushing prices like that again, honestly I haven't followed 140 stuff for 4 or 5 years on Ebay.

The rust down in the crack is the troubling part to me, perhaps phosphoric acid or the welders will know what to do before they preheat it and nickel rod it back up.

:e-shrug:

I replace manifolds for cracks like that and I get $300 for one surfaced, $450 with ceramic coating.

Since you have dual webers, why not use a header?

Well intially I wasn't trying to go too crazy on this thing so i could just drive it. I knew the little tiny b18 mani had to go and the pipe back to the axle is shot. I have a NOS dual outlet downpipe to axle pipe I got for stupid cheap so I guess that's why I looked around for the dual manifold. Now I ended up picking up a cam, here's the card:

And the snowball begins.......

If I keep it ill probably throw it in the sandblaster and see about getting it welded

Get your money back. He advertised it as "crack free" and it isn't. Then put that money (and more) into a good header and let that motor breathe.

I think they're all cracked. It's like a 90+ B230FT manifold. If it isn't cracked, you just haven't looked close enough yet.

^ This. I've had one of these where one of the runners actually separated from the plenum, and another where it was cracking around the flange.

Yeah that pretty much has been my experience with cast volvo manifolds. I'm going to research some header options and sleep on it. I appreciate everyone's input

From what I've gathered from the old timers and those that know the late B20F - B20E manifold with the air injection ports is the one to have.

These both came from extremely well maintained D-jet cars that I parted due to body issues.

I don't see any cracks, but they are obviously not sandblasted nor have I had them magnafluxed, so they do exist.

cam is relatively mild. less than 450lift. and it's 260* duration. Should do OK on street.........

Only 75's used air injection, however the replacement manifolds came with plugs so they could be used on any year engine. The plugged manifolds have been replaced and aren't as old, hence no cracks. Finding a crack free manifold without plugs, now that's rare.

I'd put a cold one that the one you pictured Ken is cracked between ports on the outlet side.

I've yet to see one that wasn't cracked, as John mentioned. My 140 had one with the air injection ports on it with 2 cracks between ports and I ditched it for the header when it developed a crack on the #4 runner that kept growing. Looked for one for a while, never found one without cracks, so the header was the logical choice for me.
