I just picked up an ‘81 262C swapped to a B21ft + m46
Unfortunately the previous owner passed away and this was sold as part of his estate, so details are few and far between on what was done to the car. However, he owned a specialty Volvo shop up in NH so hope is that as I dig into the car more deeply everything is done really well. The B21ft engine bay certainly looks “stock” to me! The car was restored around 2010 with the aftermarket gold paint job - looks like some rust repair was done at the time but I didn’t see anything current like bubbling paint.
Giant pile of photos from the seller - the dirt on the roof cleaned up nicely but the stain will take more work - it was stored under another old Volvo. The missing trim pieces are in the trunk (Wheel wells, c-pillar)
its been sitting for 10 years so step one is a solid stage 0. Gas tank apparently also has a bunch of crud that needs to be cleaned out
It starts, runs, drives, but the tires are too old to be trusted. Also, there’s an issue with the idle - the first couple of times it starts, it dies, and when it starts and stays, it’s a high idle. The shop thinks the idle air valve had issues but not sure if they confirmed or just a theory. Aside from that, fluids, belts, hoses, brakes, etc.
I see this as a long term project.. eventual goal state is something closer to Brett Borders’ 262C (albeit on more of a budget lol)
