Hey peeps,
Got this 242 here with
B21ft
Sequential ignition, running off of a maxxecu sport, e85, 63/67 to4e turbonetics
B230 head, intake and exhaust manifolds all ported and matched.
How fast can I rev this thing. It is currently set at 6,300.
I have read on old posts that it can go to 7, but I currently have a b230 head on it. Not sure if it's matters. I really just want to get another 700rpm if I can.
Anyone have a set of valve springs thry recommend?

Thanks

Off the shelf kits:
The yoshifab spring kit if you're not doing a high lift camshaft.
KL Racing single or double springs with steel retainers if you're doing more lift.
I also sell single and double spring kits from time to time.

Yea, well I seem to remember a few old threads where people are revving it to 7,000 rpm. Cause not like it ever had a limiter
They did, it was in the distributor rotor. Most people just put the standard rotors on, and that gives you all the revs :)

You don’t need a ton of spring to rev to 7-7300 rpm. You can shim stock ones and get close to 7k without any issues.
Or drop in some VW single springs and go higher.

Air cooled vw springs? That's all I am trying to get out of it.

This is what you do. I bought new stock large size springs and my machine shop shimmed them so I can rev to 7k. I forget the part number but the large size stock springs were still available. You'll need retainers, and lower washers along with the shims if your head isn't using those springs stock.

It has a b230f head on it at the moment. The k jet head needs a skim, so figured I might do some work to it.
