B23FT swap into a 1991 740

I put a B23Ft in my 87. Had to run 1 solid mount on one side only cause bracket was different. The crank pulley just take all the shims out and it will line up with ac compressor almost perfect. other than that just as mentioned above temp sensor and always remember what water pump and pipe you have.

Are the mounts at the crossmember different on B23FT vs B230FT?

The holes in the cross member are the same. I used a hydraulic mount set up on the driver side. I can’t recall the reason I went with the rubber mount and arms as they are different for rubber mounts. The hydraulic mount and arms I think interfered with the oil cooler adaptor. The only other thing I did was use the new style compressor as it all mounted right up and had to take the shims out of the crank pulley so the ac belt alignment was correct. And of course if you have a head mount dizzy you will need to swap heads or move to side mount.

Pretty sure the solid mount early Turbo cars would have the oil cooler sandwich plate on the block and the later hydraulic mount Turbo cars would have the relocation arm pointing back. Early 7s were similar to 240 Turbo I thought, where the hard lines ran off the sandwich plate on the block.

My 85 760t had Hydro mounts and no oil filter relocation.

Mine was a 87 with sandwich cooler with extension relocation etc. and hydraulic mounts. I had to use just the passenger side rubber mount and mount arm of course. I think the extension interfered with the hydraulic block to mount arm. Been 15 years ago now I forgotten exactly what it was.

That is correct. They also run the alternator in the same place a 240 alternator is located, passenger side. They have a Saginaw PS pump in the 240 location as well.

^That would be on the 1984 760. 1985-86 700 series cars used the B230 accessory setup that was used through 1998. When I converted the '87 over, I did use the 1984 760 setup, since I wanted all of the cars using the same accessory belts, etc, instead of using two different setups. At least, since that car didn't have an oil pressure gauge, there was more room to change the oil filter with the big Bosch 100 amp alternator in place, without potentially welding metal together... lol
