"Barn Find" 1980 242, Turbo 5.3 L33, TKX, 8.8, Haltech

How cute! Even w/o a face. I recall my boy at that age wanted to see what Dad was doing so I made him a creeper (back when they were wood) and he could go under my 66 Chevelle with me. He thought that was so cool (for a short while) 18 years later he owns the 66 Amazon :)
You and a few other cars on here make me want a 242, bad!

It is really amazing what they pick up at that age. She knows what bolts are, how to work the jack, and always finds a pair of safety glasses. I have the scribble out the face because our kids are in foster care so until we adopt hopefully we can't show faces.
 
Working on the exhaust this week. Downpipe is welded, and the exhaust up to the axle is tacked up. I need to order a few more bends and a muffler but the exhaust will work for now.

I am working on the brakes now so I can try to get this thing on the road this year for some testing/tuning.

I need to weld a few tabs onto the 8.8 for brake hoses. Front lines are ran and split at the cross member. Rear will split at the brake hose. Jegs makes a nice dual outlet 18" braided hose that fit the job perfectly.

Mustang GT master cylinder with all new brake tubes and hoses
Wilwood proportioning valve for rear control
My ATS Brembo front brakes
Stock Ford Explorer rear brakes (they are plenty big and pistons sized correctly).

Next to fostering the girl it's also awesome you foster so many different parts on the car, I really like the hotrodding approach of that.
 
The ugly sounding squeal is the driveshaft rubbing on the transmission seal. Its a tad too long so I need to have it shortened a tad. :(
 
Here is the current engine bay status. Nothing much has changed. It's a riot to drive.

Joes racing shift boot is a game changer for blocking heat from the exhaust. I have the original m41 gear lever welded to a flange and bolted to the T5wc
