I nicknamed this my "Puppy". It was what I blurted out when it started dying due to...lack of fuel

Picked this up late September. Still not on the road - I had temp permits to drive it where it went. I'm keeping it, since it was manufactured 11/86...the same month/year I...came to be :-P

Yay!

Nice big rusty hole that's getting sanded down for some Bondo

"i r serious car, this is serious thread" - bottom lip is being sanded and spray-bombed with black Krylon. Classy.

Dirrrrrrty engine bay, complete with environmentally friendly biodegradable wiring!

Main PITA at the moment, although recently discovered that perhaps the studs just..."popped out"...instead of broke, since the gasket is out of place.

Eh, just some greentops...

I think something's been done here...

I need to figure out what's up with the fuel gauge; it works between Full and ~1/4 full. Then it's stuck. Otherwise, everything but the AC works.

Good ol' radio...and 7-band EQ :oogle:

Cracked dash. I can deal.

Power seat gear housing. It got stuck when I put it back, and I drove approximately from Kingston to Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) with half my seat back. I pulled it apart and repaired it.

I guess the drain for the sunroof was blocked? Then a PO just covered the (small) hole with duct-tape. From there it just corroded from the inside, and one night when I had it parked on the street, some a-hole decided it would be a fun time to poke out the rest of it.

Todays task: Filled in a good bunch of that rust hole. I used a piece of a Pepsi can as a "bridge" so the tunnel isn't blocked off. Bondo over top, and we're golden!

I would have someone weld that pillar, given that it's structural...

I actually had a 340 pass the MOT (our annual safety test) here with a cut-out from a plastic fabric softener bottle covering a hole just like that, so it's not like I can talk...!

cheers

James

fuel gauge sender is prolly corroded in the tank. sometimes sandpaper works but its a hassle getting it out. i usually replace them.

Wow that car sucks.

Get that puppy fixed right away. You've got a nice project ahead of you.

The Bondo job is literally just a "stop-gap" to pass the safety test here. The stipulation is that the body can't have any rusted areas that may injure someone, basically.

The fuel gauge sender, I'm not too concerned about. I just reset the trip meter every time I fill up and try to fill again before 450km. That, and I carry a full 10L gas can in the trunk...just in case
