Hey,

As some of you might know, I have been desperatly trying to beat the STi's in my SM class in our local autocross class. It wasn't happening N/A, so... I +T'd my car. After sorting out the issues, today was the first autocross. (Technically yesterday was, but I had to work..) I'm proud to say... The STi's went down. I ran a 38.55; one Evo ran a 37.9 to best me, but other than that; today was by far the most successful autocross I have ever had. I'm sooooo happy right now; most of the cars on the day were in the 40's or 41's; and only the truly quick "racecars" were running fast. I'm fairly sure that my time was in the top 15 or even 10 of the day; I beat a very purpose built Corvette, and many other cars that were very upset about getting beat by a Beige Dented Volvo. What my friend didnt catch was the announcer saying "Robert comes across the line in his 83 Volvo 240. Woah, wait, yeah, that IS a suprisingly fast volvo."

I couldn't be happier. Now I just need to improve my driving....

Good job Robert! Now play with that a while and save up to race on the big track.

Thanks! I do need to save and do some of that "real" racing you big boys do up at PIR. : )

SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job man!!!

What did the tricks end up being with getting the car to run well? That's AWESOME! Way glad to hear that.

EDIT: What tires were you on? Still running the bilsteins and cut stock springs? :)

thanks! it was pretty smooth, but i think i could have gotten away with a little more speed in a couple corners. still not really used to driving the car with boost! clutch was slipping a bit too... but hey, i can't really complain. i should have a couple more videos up tommorow, all of them in car. the first run was pretty wicked... w/ cold slicks i couldn't control the car at all! fun, but pretty slow.

Kyle! I just saw your post! And the trick to getting it to run right for this autocross, was ... well, just to pull boost! i figured since my clutch couldn't hold anything more than 5 or 6 psi, i would just turn it down until it stopped pinging; and richen it up a bit with the adjustable FPR. After a few test "tunes" yesterday, I got it all worked out and I could run 6 1/2 7 psi with no pinging, and the clutch held fairly well... So I just went with it. It worked out VERY well. Also, in the background of the clip you can hear the elusive Greg Ervin talking about me having a good run :-)

so here is another video of an earlier run. it was an all right run, but i totally killed myself right at the end. not nearly my fastest of the day... i was pretty frustrated! haha, we electrical taped the camera to the rear view mirror ... turned out to be a cool shot!
