Hey, I recently was bequeathed a nice old 220 wagon. My dear sweet friend who owned this car new has passed it on to me as caretaker. She bought the car new in 66 and drove it around Sweden for a couple of months before Volvo shipped it over for her. The car was a garage queen, never used for commuting. It's totally stock except for the pertonix I installed years ago. 96k miles is all she has.

This car has had quite the life. After driving her car for 30 years. My friend had a rusty Amazon in the 90s. She couldn't find someone to help her get it restored till she met me. We had the rust completely repaired at Yankee Trading Company in PA. It came out great and was super solid. Floors, floor support pieces and the inner fenderwell rust was all gone. She enjoyed the car again for years until 2013 when she crashed it into the back of a suburban. She spent 9k$ having the car rebuilt from that crash which even creased the roof it was so hard of a hit. After getting it back and enjoying it for a few more years. She got creased by an Accord and that's the condition I have received the car it. Here are some pictures of the car when it was rebuilt. I will post some more later.

As you can see it was a serious hit that would have been a write off with any one else. But the car is rebuilt and looks decent. I am very blessed to have this car and hope to enjoy it for the time I have left driving.

This has always been an east coast car. I wanted her to do an article with Rolling magazine but she never got around to it.
I meant the damage… see my 220 thread

Even this Jersey girl of a car gets disrespected living here. I just noticed the idiots that screwed up the rear brake adjustment also dented the L on the hood and the tip of the center sheet metal. It's ok because it's a driver and will be doing what it's made to do. Once it's legal of course.

Time for some update info. Got some new tires which was interesting how expensive they have made the smallest tires they make. Locally Vredesteins were 110$ each so I settled for Gigatire on ebay for 65$ each I received Petlas Elegant tires. They seem decent for the money.

OK so the big score is I received a package from the estate of my friend. It contained a big stash of papers about the car. Swedish temporary plates for when the car was being driven in Sweden. :zeeall: Overseas delivery brochure. Owners manual and some other goodies like 3 broken keys. I also discovered Volvo shipped her car to CA by mistake and had to ship it across the US to her. Doing so they damaged the car and it had to be repaired back in the day. There are letters between her and the shipping company and Volvo dealing with the issue.

Still not driving it. Been very low key with any car stuff lately but I'm gong to try and get it on the road soon.

Wow, making me give these classics a longer look, that is just a beautiful car, it's gorgeous, such shapes and elegant design, they really don't make cars like this anymore. Cars today look like they need to be on mood stabilizers, yours looks so happy and charming. What a wonderful opportunity to get to enjoy that car and give it another lease on life.
