Hi, my 745 got dead by a head-on. I'm trying to repair my boo's 99 v70 xc. The front brakes are toast, the rotor is ground from riding on the caliper with no pads.

I got the car on jack stands, removed the bolts from the caliper to the rotor and it wont budge. My caliper has the coat hanger wire dilly by the pads, Im not sure what to do with that, I wonder if there is any thing else Im missing, or just keep whacking the caliper with my rubber mallot.

I sure miss my brick.

Those are some interesting words.

However, it is not uncommon for a caliper to seize if the brake system has been abused.

You can try to remove the piston and clean it up with some emery cloth, but you're probably looking at a new caliper.

Don't mess around with brakes man. Replace any iffy components and put new pads and rotors on the car.

Looks like it's time to replace calipers, rotors, and pads. Ditch the mallet and break out the 3-lb hammer. Beat it severely. But I had a stuck rotor that even PB Blaster and a 3-lb hammer wouldn't budge. It took an air hammer and finally came off.

I hope it's still on the caliper. If you don't put this back on, the caliper can grab the pad at an angle causing all kinds of interesting symptoms when braking.
