even more help would even be good links where i could buy the things online.

Thanks in Advance!

I'd use dino oil instead of synthetic, and I'd also not replace the coil unless it was free or broken, same with the fuses.

I would however, replace the timing belt, reset any adjustments to mixture, idle, or TPS. Chamge spark plugs, check on the tranny fluid, and suspension bits.

i thought synthetic oil was better with turbo engines because of heat?

the old coil was shot someone left it in the rain the new one works fine in my moms truck.
the fuses were all blown out every single one because the wires in the fuse box panel were all disconnected and most of them were factory fuses.
whats TPS?

I don't like using synthetics on high mileage cars, so my Volvos are always running dino oil. The problem is, they can cause small oil leaks to become larger oil leaks. Also it would seem like a waste if the car has indeed been abused like you say with all the sludge that is built up in it. Go with a cheap oil that you can change regularly, you can always upgrade to synthetic later when you're confident the motor is worthy of it.

The TPS is the thottle position sensor, all the 240s I've owned have always needed a reset of the TPS and mixture.

But before all of this, I would like to suggest that you purchase a quality jack and jack stands, it's better to start out with some nice safe tools before anything.

i know the motors good they did an engine swap and the motor has around 100k on it i have papers to prove it. ive all ready put synthetic oil in it is it to late to switch back?

ill check out the TPS thanks!
i plan on building a car port when it gets warm again with a real surface instead of grass and i have a buddy who has a shop and the work might be done there when there not busy

any suggestions on a battery? antifreeze? ATF? brake pads?

i got the cheap paper filter for 7$ at auto zone just had to wait 3 weeks for it i got a discount because i had to special order it and they lost it twice! i didn't mind and i got it 10 bucks cheaper

and to see what you have been telling me is that cheap parts wont make a difference over the more expensive ones?

ive read about a automatic transmission fluid flush does it sound good to do it? what fluid should i replace it with?
sorry im asking so many questions about obvious things im just trying to figure out if i should use one brand over another if people know what brands Volvos prefer (if they do)

I use the Mobil JWS3309, specifically designed for Japanese A/T, and because I have an AW that's what i use

ipd recommends it too

I like delo 15/40 for my turbo engine. It will help slowly clean the crap out. Also, i'd get a good oil filter. The MANN ones or a napa one is good bet. Do the spark plugs, maybe clean the MAF. Good luck

Bougicord is the way to go with wires, unless you want updraded ones, in that case id go with cravingboost wires. Stay far away from IPD's performance wires, they fall apart and provide sub-par performance for the price imho.

can some one please tell me how to change the alternator belt? its a total pain and i cant figure it out i need this car as a daily driver next week way sooner then expected

The Synthetic oil is comprised of much smaller particles that can slip through leak areas much easier then Dino oil, also Dino oil with good detergents really do well to clean up the crankcase of sludgeries and what not.
