none of my current redblock turbo cars have any noticeable piston slap or sound like a diesel. I have owned many non squirter pre 90- that did in the past though

I have owned more than 200 redblock powered cars. A few of the early B21 powered cars were quiet. Only one B230FT in an 87 740 Turbo was quiet. 270K+ miles on that engine. No history on the car. It could have been rebuilt for all I know. Not a single B230 squirter engine out of those had piston slap. Some of them were so quiet it was hard to tell they were running with the hood closed. There is zero doubt that the squirters are a major benefit to the longevity of a redblock engine.

Absolutely. My only gripe is the 7/9 seating position sucks with it being so high relative to the steering wheel. The 240 is superior in driver sesting position for me.

B230F is not 9.8:1, it's closer to 9.1:1. Source: me since I have measured all of this. Chambers are 54-54.5cc. Pistons have 8cc of dish. Pistons are oftentimes .004" above the the deck. Head gasket hole is 97-98mm. Elring says the compressed thickness of the gasket is .047".

B230FT is around 8.3:1.

I agree with these numbers.

Additionally, dish on a B230FT piston is 16cc.

It's almost nicer that nobody bothers me at the gas station when I have my 940. Whenever I was driving a 240 it was like I was walking by a construction site in a skimpy dress...

I'd be more impressed if he had her bazongas.


Slap an R wing on a 9 series sedan. 9 out of 10 plebes can't tell the difference.
