Canadian 1984 244 DL B21A/B6304 project log.

Well, the battery has been dead for weeks now and I just don't have the motivation to fix it. The likelyhood of the car getting sold so I can focus on some other things has risen 5%-ish. I LOVE this car, more than any other project I've ever had, but I will be retiring in less than two years and have some debts that need attending to before I go on a reduced income. I have a 2.5 redblock in the garage that will be going into my super-secret retirement project so if I did end up selling I wouldn't be leaving the Volvo/Turbobrick scene...but I'm torn over what to do.

If a dead battery is keeping you down, I will drive up there and deliver you a new one... I work at a battery place y'know

It's not totally what's keeping me down, but it is a big factor, lol. Like I said, I've got less than two years until retirement (53, leaving 2 years early because of a toxic work environment) and the cleaner my finances are before that point, the better. I'm still torn, to be honest...but my priority is definitely being better prepared for retirement over driving a car I love. My workplace is REALLY bad :(.

Holy crap just went through this entire thread, what a journey! Glad you have your health back and don't sell this thing! Maybe you just need another engine swap lol!!
Don't tempt me! Haha.
I've been absent from the board for the spring/summer, mainly due to picking up a new hobby (espresso machines...holy rabbit hole, Batman) and simply having silly amounts of fun just driving my car :). I think the LSx is going to stick around for a very long time, I'm so happy with everything about the car now that all thoughts of swapping engines have left my brain. Outside of battery death issues due to sitting for extended periods without disconnecting the BT OBD2 dongle, it's been flawless. The junkyard T5 trans is whiny as hell now so if anything gets swapped it will be that, and I'm still trying to decide whether to go auto or splurge on a new T5 (or a different box all together). The state of my finances is MUCH improved as well, which lifts a huge burden from my shoulders, so it's now possible to actually ENJOY things again without feeling guilt about it.

I've been rocking the 14" steelies this summer too, since money was pretty tight and splurging on some nice 15" tires (or even cheap ones) wasn't happening. I had the 14s it came on, and they had great rubber...so on they went. The look has honestly grown on me, because it's a terrific sleeper appearance, which I love. I'll post a pic soon, I'm rolling in to the day and will go outside eventually, lol.

A couple weeks back one of my best, and oldest, friends passed suddenly of a heart attack at 51 (same age as me). Things are settling down now, and we're doing a small cruise with just the inner circle. His car is going to be driven by another friend of ours, and his widow (fuck that word sucks) will be coming along as well. I will be busting out my Volvo, but there was an issue...it is going to be 9*C tomorrow (that's 48*F). I've been working at getting the heat hooked up, since I was lazy when I did the swap, and there's no way I want to go on an extended cruise in a car without heat when it's possibly going to be rainy and cold. I finally finished and after a bit of burping and a test drive to get some supper...toasty warm success. I'm still a bit concerned about the possibly-original-from-84 heater core springing a leak, but so far so good.

Volvo's are known for robust heaters, sorry for your loss, but hoping the wheels don't let you down and give you future motivation!

Also, what team does Ontario root for, Winnipeg?

Ontario is a big province, there's the Leafs in Toronto (although...why throw your love away like that) and the Senators in Ottawa (the city nearest me). I tend to lean towards the Sens, but around playoff time it's whatever Canadian team that's gonna lose as usual, lol.
