Hey guys. My super high tech 1991 volvo 240 has me baffled here. My check engine light is on but the code is reading 1.1.1. (clear)
Does anyone have any guesses why?

State laws have changed towards classic vehicles. Now we have to get smogged like the rest of them :(

Is it the change your oil time one or the actual engine checking one? Do the 240's have two like 940's do? Anyway the change oil one will go out after a few minutes. There is a way to reset it. Yeah check holes 6 and 2, one is ECU other is EZK ignition. WHich state? I am out of the smog requirement zone in this state of Oregon where I live so I got straight pipe out the side!

yah they do. Its not the service engine light, though I would love to know how to clear that one too.

Apparently, you get to reach up behind the cluster, find the black lever, and push it upwards.

A 1991 240 has the reset button on the right side of the cluster protruding through the cluster lens. Push that in with something small diameter and it resets that lever on the back of the cluster.

Ah, I guess that explains the odd snap-in "remote control" tube and switch-pusher thingy in this other pic?

That got added in 1990 when the airbag and knee bolster made it difficult to reach under and behind the cluster.

Sounds like OP will need to isolate EZK from Jetronic as the reason the CEL is on, if wiggling the key doesn't work. The two are wired in an "or" configuration, so the only way I can imagine at the moment requires disconnecting the pink wire from ECU 22 or EZK 3. I've heard of this before on the forums, but don't recall if the cause was ever reported.
