240 Cleaning up front side indicator lenses and tail lights

What material are the Bosch and Hella 240 tail lights made from originally?
What material are plastic turn signals made from?
--are they polycarbonates or acrylics or something else?

Besides soap and water, I plan to remove exterior lens superficial scratches and already have read that diluted ip alcohol can crack, distort, and cloud plastic tail lights even in small amounts.

Any exterior plastic polish recommendations?

you surely can buy new lights and have superficial scratches

True, but I believe in your case the aging, cracked, faded, brittle plastic would be a much more noticeable eyesore than light almost invisible scratches on new units, if there are even any new lamps with scratches

It's up to you and how much you wish to spend I guess

Some buffing compound will remove the scratches and surface haze. Some Meguiar's 105 and a DA buffer will work wonders. If you need even more shine finish up with M 205. If the surface is really far gone you can start off with some 400 or 600 wet grit.

I have used 1500 and 2000 grit w/d paper on plastic with good success. Followed up with a plastic polish as you link to. Looks like new.
