Ok, I have cobra air filter setup out of a Kjet car. Im wanting to install it in 1993 240 19t turbo, I see pics but no write up and detailed link. So first is there a link to details and if not does anybody have info where to drill for mounting hardware, and where cut the hole for air inlet etc. Ive rebuilt my sons engine in his 1993 240 w/19t turbo, he always ran the cone filters which I hated for numerous reasons. So this is like a gift to him he doesnt know about at the moment. Engine is back in his car and getting closer to getting front rad, intercooler, condenser and etc. done. Thanks for any help.

so, if anybody is curious. I found this link, I missed it cause of the heading says, diesel, but it has info regarding the Cobra air filter assembly.

Are you using a MAF, or aftermarket EFI? For the MAF, you need to trim the cobra end back a bit to jam it onto the MAF. I also added a MAF mounting bracket to the fender in mine.

Are the old pictures sufficient? I should have the originals in higher resolution still sitting on my PC.

[While K&N offers a replacement oiled air filter for the turbo box, I'd stick with the standard paper filters. I've had problems with the oiled K&N filters in the past.]

basically yeh, old pics I think will work. I get the one closes to fender hole right, then it should be easy get the other two. Yes, will be using l MAF. On the airfilter, I agree, I dont care much for K&N. Ive seen to many dirty air intake hoses caked with dirt after the filter.

I came across a smoking deal on Mann air filters for this setup. Lets just say I wont be running out of filters any time soon. I am kind of confused on the inlet of airfilter housing. I assume Ill need to holesaw a hole on the inner fender and I would think a 3 inch inlet would be good size to increase it. I am surprised that there is not a detailed write up on this mod. Just small bits and pieces of info is all Ive been able to find.

The bottom of the airbox has the inlet hole for air intake. You can mount a PVC elbow and run a short pipe to the hole in the front sheet metal next to the right headlight. This gives you ram air into the air box.

Here's some addition pictures of mine. The MAF is using the original rubber isolator and mounting bracket, plus a ~1" thick piece of wood (walnut so it doesn't rot) to space it off from the fender. The end of the cobra has been shortened some, and needs to be stretched a bit to get it onto the MAF. I've also attached an old article on modifying the airbox for a more direct pickup. Engine preheat air with an intercooler never made much sense to me, but I've kept the preheat in mine just in case it does actually help in Winter.
