Hello all. I wanted to share what I did 2 weeks ago to my v70 xc that had repeadidly three way convertor code. Well The angle gear went bad so I replaced it with new remain volvo part. Anyway while exhaust was out I noticed the rear O2 sensor is only 1/4 the way back of conv. There is actually 3 different sections in side the convertor. I plugged the hole with a bad sensor and welded a bung at the complete end of the convertor and extended the wiring. Well been 2 weeks no issue. The light was coming on at least once to twice a day. I kept a pocket scanner in the car to reset it. Anyway hope it helps someone. This will not help you if your convertor is plugged. Just if it no longer meets what the program in the car says it needs. 2000 v70xc se 171k miles.
