Hello All! So I have a hopped up b230ft in my 242 and this is the third time I've ripped an engine mount in half again... Ive heard of guys making a custom engine brace from the passenger side strut to the head of the engine..? Or from drivers side. Something to stiffen it up. Anyone have any ideas? Or have pictures? Comments? Suggestions? I have an idea on where to make one but wanted to see on TB first for other options.

thanks!!

Why not make a different design? Volvo did.

Mounting the engine on a narrow base with rubber in an angle is dumb.. make some arms and stick the horisontal out from engine, and plop the mounts flat on cross member. Make "cans" to go over the mounts--with a hole for the stud to pass thru and maybe 1/8" larger ID than the OD of the mount---to limit max deflection).
Fawkin done.

940 mounts come to mind. I would love hydraulic mounts in my 242 for longevity and comforts. Probably too wide.

Volvo hydraulic mounts also last decades. Not too worried about beating the snot out of them on a car I take to work and back on a daily basis.

I welded fender mounts for an upper strut on a couple of cars, Towery's was one. He probably has pics.

Here's a 9-something arm with the end angle modified, and a toyota truck mount on a plate that I welded to a 240 cross member.
